5 More Tips for Great Skype Calls

If you have been using Skype for a long time, you are familiar with the subtleties of talking with friends, making video calls on the Internet and using the built-in instant messaging service. This does not mean that you use Skype to the fullest.

Here are some additional tips and tricks that you may not know that will help you improve your Skype experience.

  1. Use a microphone and headphones. You may be surprised at the improved quality of calls. The reason is that your microphone is often quite close to the speakers, which generally causes minor interference. Even if it doesn’t bother you, you should try the headphones. It may seem a little silly with your friend, but at least they will listen to each of your words.
  2. Send files to your family and friends. Do you know that you can use Skype to send documents and photos? In this sense, you, like any other instant messaging client, may be more convenient than leaving the window to send emails. Both will be able to see the progress of the file as it arrives.

Send files easily. Simply click on the “Conversation” tab at the top of the Skype client. You will see Send directly. Scroll over it to open a menu, and then select a file. After that, you can view and send the file immediately.

  1. Share your screen. This is a great opportunity if you have technical problems and need help, or if you only want to receive comments from another person about the design or the document. It’s also easy. Simply go to the same tab as in Tip 2: the “Talk” tab, and this time choose “Shared Screen.” You can choose between full screen modes or only from a specific segment that you want to share. Whenever you are disappointed that you cannot show something to someone far away, remember that you can use screen sharing.
  2. Use Skype on your mobile phone. If you have a smartphone with unlimited broadband, chances are you can start using Skype on your mobile phone today. You can also use it on other phones if you have access to a wireless connection. You can access your Skype credit and make international calls as usual.
  3. Call forwarding. If you did not dare to switch to Skype, because it is not always on the computer, do not hesitate. You can forward calls to a regular landline or cell phone. This has the price of a Skype loan, for you, not for your subscriber, but if you have an unlimited data plan anyway, activating this option will make your life easier.
